We're off!
The day has finally arrived! We are off to get our Ruby. It is so surreal. The wait has been almost unbearable at times, and here we are just hours away from holding our Ethiopian daughter for the first time. Wow! Our suitcases are all packed and waiting by the front door. My mom is donating this wonderful glider rocker to the House of Hope where Ruby has lived for the last 4 months. There are 25 babies in the HOH and not one rocking chair. The nannies sit on plastic lawn chairs. This donation will be very appreciated. Thanks mom!!
Kissing my children goodnight tonight was very difficult. I can't let myself think about being away from them, it is too hard. Being a SAHM, I am very rarely ever away from my kids. This will be by far the longest time I have ever been away from them. I have covered them in prayers and know they will be well taken care of while we are away. Thank you so much mom, Tonia and Corinne for watching our precious children while we are gone. It is such a blessing to have these 3 ladies, who love our kids so very much, taking care of them. Robb's brother-in-law Wesley, who is a nurse, will be caring for some of Hunter's diabetic needs. This is also a huge blessing.
I bought small presents for Hunter, Brylie and Gage to open each day and we made a paper chain to count down the days until we come home. I pray the time we have in Ethiopia is wonderful, getting to know the people and the country. It is so important that we experience all that we can to share with Ruby someday. We will try to update as much as possible. Please keep us in your prayers.

Absolutely you are in my prayers. I know the time away from your kids is difficult but think of the reward you are getting from it. And I am sure they don't mind since they will be getting a big reward too. You are truly blest to have the chance to give a needing child a wonderful home. Oh I can't wait to hear the progress and can't wait to see all the pics.
you will definitely be in my prayers...I've been reading your blog for about a year or so...and followed your adoption journey from Asia to Africa...I'm so happy for you that the day has finally come and you're off to get your sweet little girl. I've always had a spot in my heart since I was a little girl, that has wanted to adopt a child from Africa...now I have 4 of my own and would still like to but don't see how it could happen...but if it's God's plan I suppose, that then it WILL happen..
You made me tear up when I read about the chain to count down the days...I know exactly what you mean about leaving your kids...mine are 10-16 and I still feel like you do..I've not left mine yet either.
take care and God bless you both as you take this journey and your little ones while at home waiting.
:)
One prayer said for you already!
Can't wait to see more pictures of Ruby and hear all about your journey.
Take care and have a great trip!
Covered in prayer each day you are away :)
safe travels!
I can't believe this is the day!!! You are such a thoughtful mom (and that teacher in you keeps things organized, I'm sure!). More importantly, you have covered this entire journey in prayer and we continue to join with you and Robb on this 'last leg' to bring home your Ruby! This 'labor' is a bit longer (maybe even harder...emotionally, for sure!). But once they put her in your arms, I can almost promise you that the ache of waiting will completely 'melt' away! Just as the pain does (kind of :) in childbirth....it will be worth it all!

Wishing you safe travels and I can't wait to hear all about it!!
Take care!!!
Wishing you safe travels, smooth adjustment to the time change (BTW, what is the difference in Ethiopia?), quality bonding time with Ruby and good health for all of you.

Happy 7th Birthday to your Hunter yesterday!!
No rocking chair? 25 babies and not one rocking chair? That makes me so sad. Can you even imagine how much they'll appreciate it? Good luck to you. Can't wait to hear from you on your return.
Robb and Teresa,
We are so happy you are with Ruby now!! We hope everything is going smoothly and Ruby is attaching to you both.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
