A little more about our baby girl

Today Ruby is four months old! Her birthday is February 27th. Ruby's Ethiopian name is Sifan. She was 2 1/2 months old in the referral photos and weighed 12 pounds. She is very healthy and growing and developing well. We are really hoping to get updated photos soon. She spent 3 weeks in an orphanage before coming to our agency's transition home, the House of Hope. We will pick her up at the HOH the morning after we arrive in Ethiopia. Right now we are planning on leaving Sunday, July 13th and returning Tuesday, July 22nd. I am hoping to finalize travel arrangements today. I have our suitcases laid out in Ruby's room and am slowly adding to them. This is all such an emotional roller coaster! I am so excited that we will get to meet her soon, a little nervous about the long flights, sad that we have to leave our other 3 children, and anxious about all that has to be done in the next 2 weeks. I am trying to keep my calendar to a minimum so I don't get stressed out. I want to leave feeling confident that everything at home is taken care of. We feel so blessed that we are at this point in the adoption journey. We are officially Ruby's family and we can't wait to bring her home!

I can't wait to hold her. THis is all so exciting and I'm not even the one going through the adoption process. I bet Robb is very anxious too. I see him acting tough but he lets that soft side of him show every now and then. I am so excited for you guys. I see you are leaving on the 13th so that must mean you won't be at the family reunion. Sad, but for good reasons!!! YEAH!!!! Soon Ruby will be home. We must throw a party once you guys are rested up and have had time with her as a family. Good luck!

Oh boy, do I echo your words!!!! I too am a little nervous about leaving our daughter home. But she will be in good care, as I'm sure your little ones will be.

Pack, pack, pack, away!!!

Congratulations! She is so beautiful! Hope all of the travel arrangements get ironed out quickly, and the rest of your preparations fall into place. It was hard leaving Grace for a week, but phone calls, comments from her on the blog, and the book we made for her before we left helped, along with staying with busy cousins.
We will keep you in our prayers these next few weeks!

I hope you get updated photos before you travel! I can't wait to read the story upon your return to the US from Ethiopia. This is an emotional rollercoaster, but it's an amazing one, isn't it?!

It's definitely something that people who have never adopted couldn't imagine....but...
such a beautiful, beautiful journey. :)

Congrats on being Ruby's family again! Do you know what her Ethiopian name means?

Okay can someone say, "Please pass the tissues" as I read through your past few posts.

How amazing, exciting and beautiful. She is stiking. I am sooo happy for you guys! And the fact that she will be in your arms in less than 2 weeks is just awesome!

I will be praying for you--all will go well and smooth!
