Well, I told you last week that I had some adoption news to share, I'm sorry I kept you waiting. To make a really long story short, we have decided to switch countries. After a lot of set backs with China and so many unknowns, with the waiting time extended to 3-5 years, we decided to pray about it and felt led to look into other countries. We feel really good about choosing Ethiopia. We were brought to tears when reading about the conditions people live in there. We have all heard about starving children in Ethiopia, but to read the statistics was literally sickening. Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world with a per capita income of only $110 per year. Four million children are orphaned, nearly 1 million die of AIDS. One in 4 women die in pregnancy or birth. Only 6% of births are attended by a skilled health professional. Only 18% of children reach grade 5. It is obvious there is a TREMENDOUS need for families to adopt these babies that may never see their 5th birthday if they aren't taken out of this type of environment. We didn't have to contemplate this decision for very long....we know there is a little girl there that NEEDS us to survive. We have a great peace about this decision and if all goes well, we will have her in our arms by this time next year!

I'm back....I survived!
The week is over and I survived. All went very well with the hunters and we finished up with harvest. (HAPPY DANCE!) It feels great to be at this end of the week. I am going out to supper tomorrow night with some friends to relax a bit......a much needed break.
Here's a picture of our hunters at mealtime. My groceries are quite depleted around here. I am always amazed at how much food several men can consume. They were very appreciative of everything and we always enjoy their visits. They went home with two deer and a lot of fun memories. We can't wait to have them back again next year.

CONGRATULATIONS on so many things! First of all, I am excited that there will be a new member of the family by this time next year. OH, if you could get her before the Arnold Family reunion would be wonderful!!!! I know you must be very excited and I am excited for you both. Second, congrats on harvest and surviving the week. Now maybe one weekend we can have you guys over for supper. It will have to be after the holidays though!!! Congrats again!!!!
Wow, such exciting news! I am so happy for you guys. I clicked over here this morning hoping you had updated--the teaser about your adoption news was great!
I look forward to reading lots more about your (future) little girl! :)
Next year?!! Wow! I can only imagine how excited you guys are.
Those statistics are heart-wrenching! I can't believe you could have your little girl in a year...that would be awesome!
Glad to hear that you finished with your harvest...it just seemed like a really long one this year....I think because we were all at it hard after the week of rain trying to get it done before the next rain (or snow). Now you can concentrate on other things...like a baby girl from Ethiopia.
I got goose bumps reading about adopting from Ethiopia. Obviously I am a bit partial to Africa! How awesome!!
i bet those poor unsuspecting hunters have no idea that they wound up on a blog today:0)
i'm glad you survived and i'm glad that i get to celebrate with you tonight!!
can't wait to hear more about your ethopian princess.
God sees and knows right where she is and when she will be yours.
Praying for His favor and blessing all along the way!
Wow...that warms my heart knowing that you are reaching out to a country in dire need for you to help...if only one child. Good Luck with the process and I look forward to sharing this story with you (through Blogland)
Congrats on the end of harvest and glad you survived the hunters!!
You know, it doesn't really matter from which country you're adopting a child. It will never change the fact that you and your family are so kind-hearted and ... well ... amazing.
Congratulations on everything and blessings to you and yours.
Congrats on adopting a little girl from Ethiopia. Bless your hearts.
Congrats on getting your harvest done. That is always a great feeling.
Sounds like some fun times with the hunters there.
