I have to admit that I am not one of those nice moms who buys their kids the fun band-aids. It just drives me
CRAZY that they cost twice as much as the boring brown ones and they mysteriously bring on frequent ailments that require band-aids to heal. Well today the kids and I went to Walmart and needed band-aids and the kids spotted the
"fun" ones and
REALLY wanted them. I immediately grunted at the thought but then noticed that they were on sale for
LESS than the ugly brown ones. Well, you guessed it, I caved. I mean kids should be able to wear character band-aids on their owies right? I felt okay about my purchase until
5 MINUTES after arriving home Brylie got a scratch on her finger and "really needed a Strawberry Shortcake band-aid!" Oh, what have I done?

oh come on mom, who DOESN'T want a cute little band-aid on their finger? i would love a reason to wear a wonder woman band-aid!
been there done that - still doing that. I find myself wanting to wear the cute ones now more than the ugly brown ones. Plus, it's only a buck or two more. I'd probably blow that on something else I didn't need anyways.
My favorite is when my husband needs a band-aid and well...all that is available is Barbie or Strawberry Shortcake. Now that's funny stuff!
My kids know the rule--you can only have one of the "cool" band-aids for a REAL owie (there has to be blood). :) It helps a little bit!
And I have to hide them from my husband because he thinks it's funny to wear them if he cuts a finger or something!
Yes, my husband has also had to wear the kids' bandaids on occasion. He did not think it was cool!
I'll buy the character bandaids quicker than shoes or t-shirts with characters on them. At least the bandaids get thrown away, he he
Teresa - think of it this way; that brown band-aid will only last for a day or two, but a cute little Strawberry Shortcake will last a week or longer I bet. That would mean that you're getting more bang for your buck! :)
Yes, character bandages are the cheapest way to accessorize an outfit. I’ve been spotted with a hot wheel bandages many times!
We always have an assortment of character band aids and almost DAILY my son has an "owie" in need of a cool bandaid. I buy the brown ones too for Mark and I. Although it sounds like a "cool thing" for a parent to wear a kid's one!
Here's a secret: I buy those band-aids for me. Alex couldn't care less what characters are covering his owie.
A mom has got to cave every now and then. Besides, it isn't exactly caving if they were cheaper is it??!!
Love the cute ones. Soon there will be no need for them anymore (unless you are a closet cute bandage wearer like Aisha) so just enjoy the ride while it lasts.
Brown is boring and only for UPS guys.
I'm glad to hear that your kids get more owies when the cool bandaids are in the house. Mine do the same thing- and when they're gone, the brown ones "just don't feel good" on their owies like the Care Bear ones. :)
I'm just the opposite . . . I only buy the fun ones! I figure while they're young enough to want to cute ones, I'll indulge them. : )
