Twenty four of our loved ones came out in the bitter cold to Walk for Hunter's team in the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes. Again, we had one of the largest teams there and we were the ones dressed in camo! This is the first year that the Walk was held inside. Previous years it has been held in September at Sertoma Park. This year we walked around the Sioux Falls mall and got to window shop as we went along! :) The goal of this walk was to raise $50,000. By the end of the Walk they had tallied up the amount of donations collected that morning, not counting all of the online donations, and the total was $65,000! Wow!

Hunter was thrilled that his cousins joined him on the Walk. They were more interested in a Run than a Walk! :)

Here we are making our way around the mall. Robb joked that he would just walk his mile and a half around Victoria's Secret. Whatever! :) As you can see Gage is sound asleep in the stroller. He had it made!

We are so blessed by the donations and prayers that we received for a cause that we are so passionate about. The morning of the walk Hunter said, "what does cure mean?" I explained that a cure would mean that doctors would be able to fix his pancreas and he wouldn't have diabetes anymore. With a sparkle in his eye he said, "Oh, that would be SO COOL!" I agree that a cure would be so cool. I got so choked up to see all of the strong little boys and girls at the walk that were sporting insulin pumps and had their family and friends dressed in the same shirts walking beside them in 100% support of the cause. As parents we want nothing more than for our kids to be healthy and through the work being done by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation I can see that someday soon all of these boys and girls will indeed be healthy and diabetes free. How awesome that will be! Thanks again for all of your support!

I was wondering if you were going to post photos. Thanks. It looks as if you guys had fun, too.
We were on our way back home from Sioux Falls Saturday when I remembered Hunter's walk was that day. Unfortunately, we were already near our exit when I realized we could have gone to the mall and said hello to you personally. I'm sorry we missed you.
Teresa, I was so close to hopping in my car and running down there. I didn't have a 'team' shirt though so I would have had to wear some of Chad's hunting clothes:-) I am so glad you have so much support...it seems like in today's world we can harldy get committment from people for DINNER much less a Saturday away. You should be proud that your son has so much love.
I am so glad the walk was a success! We would have been there too but we both had to work that morning! Keep us posted for next year and we will come help and raise money!
BTW- I LOVE that Brylie had to add some bling to the whole boyish get-up with a string of pearls and purse. That is too funny.
Yeah Heidi, Brylie wasn't too sure about wearing the camo but felt better when I said she could wear her pearl necklace. :) She is about as girly as they come!
Have you found out yet if Hunter's team raised the most money? Did he get to bring the trophy home again? I'm sure this time of year you were glad it was indoor but I bet the kids enjoyed being able to walk/run outside in the fall. Why did they change it? The VS comment sounds just like Robb. Did he also need to stop every lap to catch his breath at Cinnabon?
So glad to hear you not only reached your goal but went beyond! Congratulations!
So glad to hear that your walk and day went so well.
It was fun to see all the pictures. I will remember to keep your family in my prayers.
I ran into the mom who educated Alicia in the first grade about JD. I told her about your walk. She was so impressed. Her son is now 22 years old. She loved how Hunter asked you what a cure was. She has walked in your shoes. They, too have prayed for that cure. Hopefully you are so much closer.
