It's hunting season!
Robb got this 4x4 on Sunday with his rifle. The whole family was with him which made it even more exciting. Robb wasn't sure if he wanted to shoot it because it wasn't quite as big as he had hoped, but the kids were yelling from the back seat, "Shoot it dad PLEASE"! So he gave in and shot it. :) It is a very nice deer and the kids haven't stopped talking about the great hunt! 
On Monday while combining Robb spotted this 6x5 buck. He shut the combine down to hunt it down. He was pretty proud of his 58 yard shot with his bow. Ruby looks thrilled about it too. :)
So it looks like we will be eating some venison this winter and hanging more dead animals on our wall. Yippee.

Bring on the deer jerky...a problem I know all too well:) Sorry about the deer head on the wall...another problem I know all too well.
that's awesome! How great is it to have a freezer full of meat! My hubby has been out deer hunting alot this yr with the two oldest girls but hasn't gotten anything yet! they have one more day left, I think...Would be nice to be able to get one in your own field..and they must taste so good when they have been raised on grain rather than twigs in the bush! From what I hear around our house, that would be an awesome shot with a bow..my hubby is thinking of going out with the bow once rifle season is over. Our two oldest girls got their licenses to hunt this year too...dad is more excited than they are though! :)What kind of deer are the ones that Robb got? they kinda look like they might be Mulies...?? I'm not great at identifying them unless they're standing up!! And I must say I am glad that he agreed to hang his mounts somewhere other than the main part of the house...ie:his workshop! :P
yeah my kids love all the moose and elk and whatever else you have hanging at your house. so glad it's at your house:0)

Hooray - now you have two of these creatures to deal with!!! I guess I would rather have them dead than through my windshield --- I just hit two pheasants with our vehicle. Yup, TWO --- ordered a new grill and have to get it put in sometime - only $325 later... arrrrghhh!
Yeah, I agree with Jodi....we already ran into one deer with our suburban so far this year. They just called yesterday to tell me it is finally fixed. Chad did the same thing in the exact same spot on the suburban a year and a half ago!

Taylor doesn't do much hunting at all...so we don't get this, unless a friend donates some to us. So, exciting for your kids I bet. Zach is begging Taylor to go hunting...so maybe next year he'll have to go.
