As harvest is right around the corner, I am trying to find some new recipes to feed our farmers. I cook two meals a day and deliver them to the fields. Hot meals are always appreciated, but they do get cold sandwiches every now and again. I am kind of in a rut with cooking my same 10 or so recipes and would really like some new, easy recipes to use. I try to have a dessert with each meal, but sometimes it is just packaged cookies. Really, they will eat anything, but love a good meat and potatoes meal.
So, any of you care to share a good recipe with me? Hot dishes/casseroles are great, soups are wonderful for the cold weather, and I'm always looking for a great side dish. There are usually 5-7 guys to cook for.
I am working on a menu today and would love to add something new. (I know the guys would like me to switch it up a little, too!)
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Food ideas, please?

Easy pot roast: sear the roast in 2 tbsp. oil; put in crock pot. Pour 2 cans cream of mushroom soup over roast. Add one packet dried onion soup. Cook on high for 7 hours. Melt-in-your-mouth goodness!
Enjoy!
p.s. you can use the drippings as gravy over potatoes. yummy!
My favorite meal mom makes for us when we're in the field is a sliced baked ham, baked potatoes, and a vegetable. If there's left over ham you can always use it for sandwiches, soup, or a hotdish. It's easy to pack up and bring to the field too. Oh, and how about apple crisp for dessert?!
This is my favorite quick meal:
Super Easy Goulash
-3 boxes of mac and cheese
-1.5 pounds of hamburger
-brown sugar
-1 1/2 jars of spaghetti sauce
-salt and pepper taste
1. Make the mac-n-cheese as directed on box
2. Brown the hamburger, drain the grease
3. Mix mac-n-cheese, hamburger and spaghetti sauce together.
4. Add brown sugar (I usually add 1/4 cup to a 1/2 a cup.)
5. Add salt and pepper.
6. Mix it all up again and put in the oven at 350 for 5-10 minutes.
7. You're done!

I have several casserole recipes that you might like...if I find the time, I will mail them to you!
I know I appreciate it when our meals get brought to the field for us...you are doing a nice thing for them and I am sure they really appreciate you even tho they may not tell you that very often!
I love Beef Stroganoff. Its so easy to make and the longer you let it cook the better. Let me know and I can bring a copy of the recipe to church on Sunday.
Thank you so much for the great ideas! Please keep 'em coming! The guys are going to be so happy to get something different! Later on this week I will share some of my "tried and true" recipes that I feel I have overused a little.
Frazzled, I would love some new casserole recipes! And Nickerdoodle, I don't make a Beef Stroganoff, so that would be wonderful!
How about Pizza Hotdish, Mexican Chicken Manicotti, Tater Tot Hotdish, Broccoli Beef Stir Fry with Rice, Tuna Casserole, French Dip Sandwiches, Cheeseburger Macaroni, Swedish Meatballs, Coke Roast.
If you're interested in any of these recipes feel free to email me: dathfamily@gmail.com.
Good luck!
i will just sit back and look for ideas for home here too!
a favorite of mine is always scalloped potatoes and ham (which you could make with leftover ham from amy's idea)
Do you want recipes or just ideas?
My family loves spaghetti pie--it tastes kind of like lasagna only much easier to make (and you can easily make a bigger pan to feed a crowd). Enchiladas are easy and can feed a lot of people too. I have a great recipe for soup (Cheesy Chicken Chowder) if you want it too.
One great side dish is Corn Casserole (mix one box of dry cornbread mix with one can of undrained corn, one can of cream style corn, and one cup sour cream. Bake in 9 x 13 dish at 350 for 30 minutes.) My husband LOVES this and so do my kids.
If you want any of the recipes just let me know. My email is salhasz at msn dot com.
Oh I forgot dessert! I'm on a pie kick, but that might be too much work? I don't know. Anyway, my family loved Blueberry cherry pie. And they also liked monkey bread--not a pie, but it's yummy!
Something that's really good is calzone, if you like pizza. It's great and really portable. you make the pizza and fold the dough over the toppings and cook it--it's easy to hold onto and isn't sloppy.
COLD CUT CALZONE
1 pkg refrigerated pizza crust(or homemade)
2Tbs grated parmesan
1 pk(250g) assorted pizza meats
1/4c each green pepper, onion, and tomato (or your favourites)
1c shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4tsp basil leaves
-ROLL DOUGH OUT TO A 10"X15", -SPRINKLE WITH PARMESAN
-ARRANGE MEATS IN CENTER OF DOUGH
TOP WITH VEGGIES,CHEESE AND BASIL
-FOLD DOUGH OVER MEAT(lengthwise), COMING TOGETHER IN THE MIDDLE. CRIMP TOGETHER. MAKE VENTS ON TOP.
-BAKE AT 425* FOR ABOUT 12 TO 15 MINUTES OR UNTIL BROWNED.
MAKES 4 LRG SERVINGS.

Waht about BBQ's.
I just dropped a few recipes in the mail for you. Other standbys...meatloaf, meatballs and mashed potatoes, lasagna, goulash, pork loin sandwiches,tuna-noodles casserole (can use turkey too).
Sorry, I can't contribute on how to feed a crowd, but I love coming here to get ideas. : )
